Ceremonial Reenchantment
Reenchanting life through Shamanic Art
From Wounded Knee to Bagdhad

The Lakota say that when you die, you travel on the Blue Road through the Big Dipper. There, Blue Woman waits. If you have learned your lessons and lived a good life, you get to proceed onto the Milky Way to an area over the Southwest. I think it is Chaco Canyon...just my guess and gut feeling. If you didn't learn your lessons, or lived a not so good life, you get kicked back into this world where you reincarnate and try again. I live in the Southwest. One night I looked up at the Milky Way, which is an amazingly bright path up here in the Rockies, and I had this image of the Old Ones...the ones who were slaughtered by cowards at Wounded Knee in 1890....and the message implanted into my mind is how we keep repeating the same mistakes. It is time to make different choices...It is time we learn some lessons. That is what they whispered into my heart.

This was very painful for me to paint. It took me several weeks for me to do. I cried through a lot of it thinking of the stories I heard while living on the rez. I don't think I could ever do the old ones the justice that they deserve.

I like your inspiration ms.Ista. When one knows the intentions of the artist, it does open "new" perspective, which you uniquely craft. I did something yesterday, in honor of you. I went to look at my father's property which borders a federal wild life refuge. There were several hunters on the backside hunting for wild turkeys. I did not feel like a confrontation with several "armed" men. But I was upset that they were hunting on my dad's land, which he did not allow hunting, because he felt the deer and animals were "his". As the hunters used the artifical turkey calls to lure in their "kill", I thought about some of your struggles and how I would like to consult with you on the strategies of Sun Tzu and how they could apply to your struggle. Well, how do I defend the wild turkeys and face off armed hunters, peacefully? It came to me... I put in the "greatest hits" of Guns-n-Roses and cranked it! (I was in my car) yeah, I am sure every turkey within a mile radius heard "Welcome to the Jungle", "Patience" "Knocking on Heaven's Door" and for good measure, "You Could Be Mine". After my mini-concert, which echoed through out the Tennessee hills, I didn't here the turkey calls, or shooting. What a horse's behind I am, huh? Poor hunters. I gave that victory to you ms.Ista! one for the Zi~ Peace girl.
