Buffalo

The Buffalo are sacred to me and sacred to many cultures on the North American Continent. They represent so much such as abundance, strength, perseverance and sacrifice. When the Europeans came to this continent, they/we had no respect for the Buffalo and did everything they could to wipe them off the face of this continent. They are wise and beautiful and so fast...

Tatanka Wakan
This is a painting of a White Buffalo that was born on the Pine Ridge Reservation. He always got loose and roamed around. We all knew who it was, and he was a very gentle spirit. For some reason the Pine Ridge cops shot and killed him one day. I have no idea why, because he was posing no harm to anyone. Considering the Prophecy of the White Buffalo and the importance of this to the Lakota people, it shook me to my core when I heard the news. I quickly did a painting of him where he represents all colors of the world.

The Sacred
This is a painting of a baby White Buffalo with her mother in honor of the prophecy that has been taught to me many times in many ways. Also, this is about a mother's strength and love for her child.
