Endangered Species
This Gallery will be dedicated to endangered species. I grew up in San Diego, so I can't even begin to count all of the times that I went to the San Diego Zoo as a child. It left a major impression upon my heart and soul. Every single animal seemed to be endangered or extinct in the wild, and there was always an explanation as to why. This has influenced how I live my life. I have recycled since I was five for instance. Animals are becoming more and more threatened as our population expands, and as our use of the land expands. So many beautiful creatures are losing their habitat, or are dying due to the pollution we have caused. Simply think about the Polar Bear.While I was in Las Vegas, they had a lion out with a tiger at the MGM Grand. I was taking pictures, and I noticed that the lion's gaze followed me wherever I went. I took this as a challenge to begin painting and focusing upon the protection of our wild ones. %5 of all proceeds generated by sales from this specific gallery will be donated to the San Diego Zoo who works tirelessly at reintroduction, protection and education.
This is a painting of a lion I saw at the MGM Grand this past February. Everywhere I went, his gaze followed me. I felt as if he was challenging me to stand up for him and the others by painting them....so now I begin. This painting is not for sale.

This is a painting I did of an Elephant that came up to me while I was at the Zoo. I was standing with my nephew waiting for the others to catch up, and this beautiful being came and hung out with us a bit. I was mesmerized by the gentleness of his face, the kindness in his eye...the amazing balance of power and gentleness within Him. This painting is called Elefante and is $200. It is an oil pastel painting on Arches Paper.

This is the second painting of tigers...maybe will become a series. When I was at the MGM, I felt like they were challenging me to paint them, to get the message out about the loss of habitat and loss in numbers in the wild. From our ancient societies, lions are guardians of the passageway to the realm of power and wisdom. They guard the gate from that separates the sacred from the profane, the sanctuary from the outer world, and the living from the dead. This paitning is oil pastel on 18X24 Arches Paper and is $500.

This is the panda painting. I have a gadget on my computer that constantly streams from the Panda enclosure at the San Diego Zoo. I have watched two babies be raised through that webcam, and it is absolutely amazing. One night Bai Yun was rocking Yun Zi in her arms...we are all so similar. Humans seem to be the only ones that don't think they are part of nature...I simply wanted to capture the similarities. Pandas are extremely endangered, so consider donating money to the San Diego Zoo, which is wildly successful at breeding Pandas. This painting is for sale at $500, and is oil pastel on Arches Paper.

This is a painting that i did of Green Sea Turtles, which are endangered. A turtle is the logo for my company, and when I was a little girl, I was told a story about turtles. We had just gone through a big earthquake, and a Hopi elder told me to not be scared because, "The Turtles that the land sits upon are just moving around." For some reason, this brought me a lot of comfort. Turtles are strong, calming. When we were in Vegas at Shark Reef, everyone was watching the sharks except for me. I kept looking into the blue for the Turtles. They bring me such peace...I'm not sure I captured it, but it is how it felt watching them. I am not sure I want to sell this.

Global Warming - I did this after watching Al Gore's Video, and I kept seeing Polar Bears in my dreams looking at me for help. This is mixed media on Arches Paper, and unframed it costs $775. It measures 22X30.

Bliss - I painted this after watching Planet Earth. It is of a Mother Polar Bear with her baby. They were curled up together in bliss and love. It brought tears to my eyes, and I had to paint them. This is currently in the Wildcat Gallery in Telluride, CO.
